In Boston, buskers fill subways stations, archways and public plazas with beautiful, heartfelt music much to the delight of commuters, families and tourists alike. Unfortunately, little can be known about the artists’ musical and personal experiences simply from listening to them while waiting for the Red Line after work or taking a stroll through the cobblestone streets of Faneuil Hall Marketplace on a weekend afternoon. Boston Busking was created in the summer of 2014 to reveal the human identity behind the tip bucket – the real essence, attitude and experiences of some of the most interesting musicians of Boston. It explores past, present and future musical experiences and goals, personal details of musicians’ lives and what led these musicians to take their music into public space.
These are their stories.
